SWINE FLU
how the world is reacting to the outbreak
Egypt has called for a slaughter of the nation's roughly 300,000 pigs even though there hasn't been a single case of swine flu there and there's no evidence that pigs have spread the disease
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued emergency guidance allowing certain antiviral drugs to be used in a broader range of the population if needed; a public health emergency was declared, and roughly 12 million doses of Tamiflu from a federal stockpile are being delivered to states.
China, Russia and Ukraine are among countries that have banned pork imports from Mexico and parts of the U.S.
In Hong Kong, which has no confirmed cases, workers were scrubbing public toilets every two hours in an effort to improve hygiene.
